Our Story
Rich Local History
Founded in 1835 as Canton Institution for Savings, Bank of Canton is the 23rd oldest financial institution in the United States. We have a rich and colorful history as one of the oldest mutual savings banks in the country. Our first branch was located inside a local tavern. Paul Revere’s nephew and adopted son served as our bank’s third president, from 1845-1852.
Today’s Community Bank
Over the years, Bank of Canton has adapted its services to suit the changing needs of its personal, business and municipal banking customers. Our approach to banking is timeless: assemble an expert team of bankers and lenders; offer competitive rates and products; and, most of all, deliver exceptional customer service.
Our Mutuality Puts You First
Since our founding, we’ve remained a mutual bank. This means we have no stockholders – we act exclusively in the best interests of our customers and communities. We earn their trust, and we build lasting relationships.
