CANTON, Mass. (May 25, 2021) – Bank of Canton collected 364 food and personal care items for Interfaith Social Services‘ food pantry during the bank’s free “Community Shred Day” event, held May 22 at its 60 McGrath Highway branch in Quincy.
While there was no cost to participate, eventgoers were encouraged to bring three non-perishable food items to help support the food pantry.
“Our communities have always shown strong support for our neighbors in need,” said Stephen P. Costello, president and CEO of Bank of Canton. “We appreciated seeing so many people donating items and seizing the opportunity to reduce their risk of fraud and identity theft by safely disposing of old documents. We thank everyone who made the day a success.”
The bank hosted a similar event at its 557 Washington Street branch in Canton as well, where donations benefitted the Canton Food Pantry. Brockton’s Bay State Shredding, member of the National Association for Information Destruction (NAID), performed the onsite shredding services at both locations.
